Itinerary Brief

Days 1-7

Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

  • 3 nights in Cusco, 1 in the Sacred Valley, 1 at Machu Picchu.
  • Hike along the final stretch of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu!
  • Explore ancient Inca history and culture of Cusco & the Sacred Valley.

Cusco was the historical Capital of the Inca Empire and the UNESCO World Heritage Site is the perfect place to acclimatize to the altitude and explore the city’s Inca culture and civilization. The main reason many travelers come to this part of the world is to be able to visit the ancient Inca Citadel and World Wonder of Machu Picchu. The Incas had to walk for several days through the mountains of the Sacred Valley to reach it along what is today known as the Inca Trail. You’ll walk along the last leg of the Inca Trail for 2 days in the footsteps of the Incas. Although a shorter version of the 4-day Inca Trail, don’t underestimate it…the Inca Trail is challenging and it is difficult hiking in high altitudes. However there is no doubting that it is well worth the effort and as you arrive to the top of Machu Picchu you’ll be lost for words as you stand there and stare at one of the most beautiful manmade Wonders of the World…there really is no other experience like it on Earth!
